A healthy pregnancy starts before conception. Any pre-existing medical conditions or medications can be optimized for pregnancy. Any fertility concerns can be assessed such as ovulation evaluation, fallopian tube patency, or semen analysis.
Most prenatal care is done what I call "Obstetrics by Committee". Since I am a solo private practice Doctor you will see me each visit and will very likely be delivered by me. I perform an Ultrasound at every visit to assess the baby's well being. The visits are monthly the first two trimesters, every 2-3 weeks months 7 and 8 and weekly visits for the last month.. If the delivery runs into difficulties I can perform forceps assisted deliveries or cesarean section to safely deliver your healthy baby.
Unlike most Obstetrical Practices I deliver almost all my patients. I am not on call one day a week and one weekend a month. I am essentially available 24/7 except when I am out of town. I prefer it this way. I prefer taking care of my own patients that I know very well instead of patients of other Doctors that I've never met. I think my patients prefer it that way too. Having a baby is a very emotionally and physically charged event, and seeing a familiar face in your doctor hopefully brings some feeling of reassurance. I deliver at Summit Hospital in Lake Country. I provide very personalized service (somewhat like my medical practice). When in labor, you may be the only patient in labor and have the undivided attention of the entire unit. Depending on the length of your labor your nurses may change as their shifts end but I will be available for the duration. My goal is to provide you with the most elegant modern civilized birth experience and to exceed your expectations. When you compare your birth experience with other women i want yours to be the best (unless your friend was my patient too, and then it will be a tie)
There is a lot of unnecessary controversy whether to circumcise baby boys.. In my opinion there is none. With a Novocaine block there is minimal discomfort. An uncircumcised male has higher rates of urinary and penile infections, pose a greater risk of transferring infections to sexual partners, including STD's, and a higher risk of penis cancer. There is virtually no downside to a circumcision, only benefits.
You will be seen 6 weeks after your delivery for your post partum visit. This will also double as your annual GYN exam with pap smear, ultrasound and any birth control needs. If there are any concerns in the post partum period you will be seen as often as needed.
